Mourne Mountains Shine on BBC Countryfile
We were delighted to recently welcome Matt Baker of BBC Countryfile to the Mournes, with the episode airing on Sunday, 9th February.
Our Upland Team had the opportunity to showcase the vital work of path building, explaining the techniques used and the importance of protecting our trails from erosion caused by hikers and climate change. As always, Matt wasn’t afraid to get stuck in—helping to shift a large stone into position!
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Annalong Valley on a crisp, sunny winter’s day, it was a fantastic opportunity to highlight the ongoing conservation efforts in this special landscape.
The episode also featured:
- The Woodland Trust’s work at Mourne Park
- The National Trust’s heathland restoration work
- The restoration of sand dunes at Tyrella beach
- Ulster Wildlife’s efforts to address the decline in Barn Owls
Don’t worry if you missed it – you can catch up here.
