Mourne Mountains Shine on BBC Countryfile
We were thrilled to welcome Matt Baker of BBC Countryfile to the Mournes for an episode that aired on Sunday, 9th February.
Our Upland Team showcased the vital work of path building, explaining key techniques and the need to prevent erosion from hikers and climate change. As always, Matt jumped in—helping shift a large stone into place!
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Annalong Valley on a crisp, sunny winter’s day, it was a fantastic opportunity to highlight the ongoing conservation efforts in this special landscape.
Other conservation projects covered in the episode:
- The Woodland Trust’s work at Mourne Park
- The National Trust’s heathland restoration work
- Ulster Wildlife’s work to address the decline in the Barn Owl
- Restoration work on the sand dunes at Tyrella beach
Don’t worry if you missed it – you can catch up here.
